The sin which makes you sad and repentant is more liked by Allah than the good deed which turns you arrogant.
- Imam Ali

In the name of Allah the Most Merciful, and Compassionate Allah There is no god but He,
The Living, the Everlasting,
Slumber seizes Him not, neither sleep,
To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth.
Who is there that can intercede with His, except by His leave?
He knows what lies before them and what is after them,
And they comprehend not anything of His Knowledge save as He wills.
His throne comprises the heavens and the earth,
The preserving of them fatigues Him not,
And He is the All-High, All-Glorious.

[Al-Quran: Surat al-Baqarah, Ayah 255]

Muslim woman Hijab

As a Muslim woman, I feel lost in this world. Every day I am pushed and tugged in each and every direction with everyone blaring their norms upon me. I am told to lose weight, gain weight, be curvy, be skinny, put makeup on, take it off, ea
t this and do this, and for what? Beauty. The saddest aspect of this societal pressure is that it has now affected our Ummah and we are seeing the repercussions. As a woman, I read the Quran and I feel confident in my worship and dedication with Allah but as soon as I step out my door, my confidence fades away. And although I am speaking for my perspective, I am speaking for many women who are trying to hold on to their deen in a place that makes it so easy to get rid of it. A Muslim should never feel bad for doing something for the sake of Allah. EVER. But when many women go out of their houses with the hijab, it is an internal battle with our nafs and society. You might think, “this girl is exaggerating” but let me give you a glimpse. We go out into society with Islam on our back, with everything on TV on our shoulders and with the ignorance of man on our minds. We are in the public scrutinized for not being “free” and questioned about our loose fitting clothing. When we try to escape this pressure to the people who are closer to us than our own blood, it gets worse. We are bashed for not wearing an abaya and attacked for wearing an abaya. We are criticized for dressing “too alluring” or dressing “too drab”. It is a lose-lose situation. When we go to get married, the situation gets even worse because although many guys use Prophet Muhammad’s (sws) phrase about religion being the best of qualities, they only care about one quality. We have misconstrued the connection between modesty and beauty. Modesty does not mean that you will get a model look-a-like under a hijab, modesty is the beauty of a woman obeying the commands of Allah. This is real beauty. People ask, why all of these woman are taking off their hijab or wearing it improperly. Women are being told from every direction what is beautiful and there is no bench time, there is no break and not even with our own brothers and sisters in Islam. It is an ongoing battle and continuous struggle against what is right and what is wrong. Women are the backbone of this ummah, they are the ones raising the children and supporting the families. When we lose our women, we lose our ummah but as women we need to hold on. Although we might feel ugly every day in the sight of people, we are beautiful in the sight of Allah. If an individual is not humbled enough to recognize this beauty, then they are not worth a tear. I applaud every sister I see upholding her deen because the tides are high and the shore is far. Trust me sister and put your trust in Allah, the shore is beautiful and something like you never seen before.

I Think Og You

In the monsoon rains
When a newborn cries
In a mother's eyes
I think of You

ربنا الرحمن
مبدع الأكوان
صاحب الجلال
من له الكمال
لا رب سواه
لا رب سواه
(Our Lord the most Merciful
Creator of the universe
Possessor of glory
To whom perfection belongs
No lord but Him
No lord but Him)

Miracles
Are everyday
The moon will come
As the sun will fade
Forever this way

When the seasons change
In the monsoon rains
When a newborn cries
In a mother's eyes
I think of You
I think of You

سبحان الله ، سبحان الله
سبحان الله ، سبحان الله
(Glory be to Allah
Glory be to Allah)

A seed that grows
From a tiny shell
Becomes a tree
Feeding you and me
Here for our needs

هذه الأطيار
تلكم الأزهار
ونجوم الليل
من صنع الله
لا رب سواه
(These birds
Those flowers
And the night's stars
Are all Allah’s creation
No lord but Him)

When the seasons change
In the monsoon rains
When a newborn cries
In a mother's eyes
I think of You
I think of You
